The purpose of this post is to offer you information about the 7 best online casino real money games. You have more choices now than ever. You can play on Facebook, on your mobile phone, and via downloadable online casino software.
Tutorials and resources for practically every casino game you can imagine are everywhere, too. Most of these games are available for free before ever wagering a single penny. Best of all, online casino games are more fun now than ever–technological advances bring more entertainment to the table every day.
But the best online casino games are those you play for real money.
Because that’s what gambling is all about. Playing free games can be great for deciding whether you like a particular casino. It can also be a great tool for learning how to play.
But you can’t win money without risking money.
You don’t need hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get started, either. Most of the online casinos recommended on my site accept deposits as low as $20.
I’ll get into more detail about casinos and deposits in later posts. This post focuses on the 7 best online casino real money games:
1- The Best Games in the Casino Offer the Lowest House Edge – That’s Why I Love Online Blackjack
The house edge is a concept that defines how much the casino expects to win every time you place a bet. It’s a long-term expectation. In the short run, it’s almost meaningless.
But the longer you play, the more it matters.
Here’s an example of how the house edge works:
You’re playing blackjack. If you’re using perfect basic strategy (and you should be), the house edge is only 0.5%.
This means that in the long run, the casino expects to win an average of 50 cents for every $100 you bet.
It also means that you’re more likely to walk away from the blackjack tables a winner than you are at any other casino game. The odds of winning each hand are close to 50%, and the even money payouts smooth out the volatility of online blackjack games.
Real money online blackjack has its drawbacks, though. For one thing, if you like online casino bonuses, your play at the blackjack tables usually doesn’t count toward your wagering requirements. (I’ll write a post in the near future explaining how casino bonuses and wagering requirements work.)
For another thing, to get that 0.5% house edge, you need to be intimately familiar with the correct strategy. And you must execute perfectly on every hand.
If you don’t mind using some strategy to make some decisions and having them affect your outcome, blackjack might be the perfect game for you.
2- If You Like Table Games without Decisions, You Might Enjoy Real Money Baccarat Online, Too
The house edge is 1.06% on the banker bet in baccarat, and you don’t have to memorize any kind of strategy table to achieve that number. And like blackjack, this is a bet that wins almost half the time and has an even money payout.
What does that mean?
It means that baccarat is a low volatility game. If you’re playing a slot machine game with a 1% house edge, you might see lots of spins which win nothing, followed by the occasional big win.
Online baccarat offers less of the style and and atmosphere, but as far as playing an online table game where you can win real money, it’s a good bet.
Just be sure to avoid the tie bet. The payoff is great, but the house edge (14.36%) is outrageous.
3- If You Like Big, Life-Changing Jackpots, Look for Progressive Slot Machine Games
A slot machine with a progressive jackpot is one in which the top prize grows every time someone makes a spin on the game. The slot machine game pays for this by taking a tiny percentage of your bet to “fuel” this ever-growing jackpot.
The result is a game where you might win $10,000, $100,000, or even a million dollars.
If that’s the kind of gambling excitement that gets you going, you should try some of the online progressive slot machine games available. The house edge on these games is higher than the house edge for baccarat or blackjack, but you’re trading that for the chance to win big money.
Another advantage of progressive slots is that wagers on these games count 100% toward meeting your playthrough requirement for your bonus.
4- If You’re Looking for Something Authentic, Try ANY Live Dealer Casino Game for Real Money
Most online casinos provide video game versions of your favorite table games. The random number generator programs duplicate the odds of these games, but the results are generated by a computer rather than a deck of cards, a pair of dice, or a spinning wheel.
Live dealer casino games, on the other hand, use real casino equipment to generate results. You’re playing a blackjack or craps game just like you would in a real casino. The only difference is that you’re communicating with the dealer via webcam.
You can even flirt with the pretty girls that such casinos always hire to deal their games. They can read what you type in the chat box.
Many table game fanatics think live dealer casino games are the only games worth playing.
They usually have the same drawback that baccarat and blackjack have, though–wagers on these games don’t usually count toward the wagering requirement for your signup bonus.
5- Any MOBILE Casino Game Is Worth Trying, Too
A few years ago, if you wanted to play casino games for real money online, you had to play on your desktop or laptop computer.
That’s no longer the case.
Most reputable real money online casinos offer games compatible with most mobile devices. You can play from your cell phone or your tablet. The odds of winning are the same; the only difference is the interface.
Most mobile devices have less computing power than a laptop or a desktop, so these real money casino game apps usually offer a less visually robust gaming experience.
But it’s hard to see the downside of being able to play casino games any time you want to from wherever you want to.
6- Real Money Video Poker Games Offer Some of the Best Odds in Online Gambling
Video poker games are interesting because they resemble slot machines. But they offer several advantages and disadvantages over their admittedly closely-related cousins.
The biggest advantage to video poker games is the low house edge. Most people who are familiar with card games and poker can play well enough to keep the house edge at most video games below 5%. That’s better than most slot machines.
The disadvantages are significant, too, though. For one thing, video poker games offer smaller jackpots than most slot machines. Even a progressive video poker game tends to start with a lower prize pool which gets hit sooner.
Also, to achieve these low house edge results, you need to be able to play well and be able to distinguish between pay tables. Some video poker games have similar pay tables.
But the difference in payback percentage can be significant.
Take Jacks or Better, for example. A full pay Jacks or Better video poker game offers a payback percentage of 99.54%. That games pays off at 9 for 1 for a full house and 6 for 1 for a flush. (The house edge is only 0.46% if you’re making all the right decisions.)
But many Jacks or Better games pay off 8 for 1 for a full house and 5 for 1 for a flush. The payback percentage on this version of the game drops dramatically–to 97.3%.
That’s a house edge of 2.7%.
That doesn’t sound too high, especially when compared to most slot machine games.
But it’s 5 times greater than the house edge of the full pay version of the game.
If you look at what that does to your hourly loss rate, it’s a significant difference.
Finally, video poker has the same drawback that other low house-edge games have. Wagering on video poker almost never applies toward meeting your signup bonus wagering requirements.
7- The Games You Like the Most Are the Best Real Money Online Casino Games to Play
Here’s the bottom line:
All online casino games have a built-in mathematical advantage for the casino. You can win at any of them in the short run.
But in the long run, the house is always going to win all your money–assuming you keep playing.
The wisest approach to play real money online casino games is to consider them an entertainment expense.
Once you’ve made that mental shift, deciding what to play becomes a matter of deciding what an acceptable loss per hour rate is. Future blog posts on my site will explain how to calculate such statistical rates.
Online casino games for real money can be a lot of fun.
But there’s no way to get an edge over an online casino. The math just doesn’t work.
I recommend playing real money games when you can, because those are the only games where you can win real money.
But always treat your gambling dollars like an entertainment expense. Never gamble with money you can’t afford to lose.
